A set of four posters with clear examples of counting strategies.

The three strategies include:

Jump Strategy: The jump strategy is when you use a number line to jump in tens and ones to arrive at the answer.

Split Strategy (two versions): The split strategy is when you split a number into parts and add each part separately. This is useful for large numbers.

Compensation Strategy: The compensation strategy is when you round numbers in an equation to make it easier to solve in your head.

I just downloaded this, however the file only contains the 3 posters and not the second split strategy poster….where is the new version to download?

Chloe Haworth · Aug 16th, 2014

I also agree with Emily. A split strategy poster with the above breakdown would be fabulous!

Love the posters

These are great!!! Can you please make one for the split strategy where you split the number up into tens and ones and then add it. E.g. 52 + 47 = ? 50 + 40 = 90 2 + 7 = 9 90 + 9 = 99.

Could you please also make these for subtraction?

Cheers, Emily

Emily · May 28th, 2014

Hi Emily, we’ve added the second version of the split strategy. We still need to work on the subtraction set. Feel free to download the new version now!
