Use these fact family houses worksheet set to practise addition and subtraction fact families with your students.

🏠 Fact Families (Addition and Subtraction) Worksheets 🏠

This set of 6 levelled worksheets will help students understand fact families and discover the relationship between addition and subtraction. This 40-slide deck contains a variety of tasks looking at fact families using a visualisation of a ‘fact family house’. This digital resource is a must-have when teaching your students about addition and subtraction fact families!

This resource can be used individually, in small groups or as a center.  Students fill in the number sentences by using the numbers in the houses. To use as a maths rotation, use worksheet 6. The students would roll the dice two times to get 2 numbers to fill in their house. Then, using their knowledge of relationships of numbers they would fill in the third number and number sentences. Repeat for each house on the page.

This worksheet pack includes 6 worksheets, and an answer key to make marking fast and easy!

Through this activity, students will show their ability to extend and apply knowledge of addition and subtraction facts and develop efficient mental strategies for computation.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your math lessons.

In addition to individual student work time, use this activity to enhance learning through guided maths groups, whole class lessons, or homework assignments.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners and ELL/ESL students, we have a few suggestions for keeping students on track with these concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Use this resource in a small group with guided instruction. You can model how to fill in the number sentences. Ask the students questions as you model. Allow the students to try on their own.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

You can extend this resource by using the blank worksheet. Students can come up with their own fact families and fill in the number sentences that correlate to those fact families.

Easily Download & Print

Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or Google Slides version of this resource.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

To save paper, we suggest printing this 2-page worksheet double-sided.

Turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity by printing on cardboard and slipping it into a write-and-wipe sleeve. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse.

Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
