Input Output Activities Engage Your Students

Make maths practice exciting with our interactive input output activities! In this Bingo game, students will have fun identifying mathematical rules using all four basic operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication and division—based on the input/output tables presented. As they connect the tables to their corresponding ‘rules’ on their bingo cards, they’ll reinforce their maths skills while enjoying the game. Perfect for classroom learning, this resource includes everything you need for an engaging and educational activity.

Included in this guess my rule game:

  • 26 unique bingo cards
  • 24 calling cards
  • Instructions
  • Answer key

Preparing and Playing This Guess My Rule Game

Our input output activities are easy to prepare and play, and this one is no exception! Here are the simple instructions:

Preparation:

  1. Download and print the resource in the format of your choice. We recommend printing on cardboard and laminating for longevity.
  2. Cut apart the calling cards and mix them up.
  3. Give each student a Bingo board and some counters.
  4. Direct students to cover the ‘FREE’ space with a counter.

Play:

  1. Draw a calling card and display it to your students using an interactive whiteboard or document camera.
  2. Direct students to look at the card and identify the rule that turns the numbers in the input column to those in the output column.
  3. Students use a counter to cover the matching rule on their Bingo card.
  4. Students yell ‘BINGO!’ if they cover 5 spaces in a row, a column or diagonally.

Our input output activities work well as whole class, guided group, or maths station activities.  Just print and go!
