What Is a Mosaic?
Looking to teach your students more about mosaics before diving into the Easter craft? Here’s our kid-friendly explainer to share with your class.
A mosaic is a picture or design that is made by sticking small pieces of different colored materials together. These materials can be anything from tiny stones, to glass, to small pieces of tile or even paper, like the materials included in this Easter activity.
To create a mosaic, an artist carefully arranges these small pieces of material to create a picture or design. It can be a picture of anything from a person or animal to a landscape or an abstract pattern, or, well, a fun Easter picture!
Mosaics have been around for a very long time, and they can be found all over the world, from ancient Roman buildings to modern-day art installations. They can be very colourful and beautiful, and they take a lot of skill and patience to make.
