## Looking for a Multiplying Decimals Activity?

Like most computation skills, multiplying decimals numbers requires practice! If your students need additional computation exercises involving multiplying decimals by whole numbers or multiplying decimals by decimals, then this set of task cards can be used to strengthen those skills.

With this download, students will have 24 different decimal multiplication problems to solve. The problems are set up in a vertical format for students to practise using the standard algorithm or a strategy of their choice.

• Instruction Page – This provides a clear guide on how to use these multiplying decimals task cards in your classroom.
• Multiplying Decimals Task Cards – Each card features a decimal multiplication question for your students to solve.
• Recording Sheet – This can be used as a dedicated space for students to record their answers and show their work.
• Answer Page – An easy way to check student solutions and provide immediate feedback.

Through this activity, students will multiply decimals by whole numbers and decimals up to the hundredths place.

## Differentiate This Multiplying Decimals Activity

The teachers at Teach Starter understand the pressure educators are under to differentiate their lessons to meet the educational needs of all students. Here are some ideas you might like to implement in order to ensure that all students can thrive when working on this multiplying decimals activity:

• If there are students who need additional support, choose to use the task cards with the least number of digits. Some task cards use numbers that have two and three digits, while others use four. You could also provide less-confident students with a multiplication chart to help with basic maths facts.
• For students who need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to sort their answers in order from the lowest answer to the highest. Additionally, consider using the editable version to modify problems to extend to the thousandths place.

## Easily Prepare This Multiplying Decimals Activity

Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the printable PDF or editable Google Slides version of this resource.

Print on cardboard for added durability and longevity. Place all pieces in a folder or large envelope for easy access.

To keep the task cards out of pockets or under desks, punch a hole in the corner of each to place them on a binder ring.
