Use these maths mats when reviewing fraction operations with your students.

Looking for a Fractions Activity Sheet?

Are you looking for an engaging maths enrichment task for your upper primary and early secondary students? Perhaps you have just finished your unit on fraction operations, or maybe you are reviewing for an end-of-year assessment. Once your students have learned about how to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, this would be a great time to introduce Teach Starter’s maths mats to your students! This set of three maths mats will keep your students engaged while practising those important computation skills with fractions.

Students can be given different mats, so they don’t have a matching mat as their neighbour. Students can complete multiple mats if they have time, colouring all of the details as much as they would like. This would be a great activity after a test, as morning work after a unit is complete or as an enrichment for early finishers. They would also make a great bulletin board display in the classroom when students are done.

Explore Multiple Fractions Concepts at Once!

With these maths mats, students will practise the following:

  • Adding fractions with unlike denominators
  • Subtracting fractions with unlike denominators
  • Multiplying a fraction by a whole number
  • Dividing a unit fraction by a whole number
  • Finding equivalent fractions
  • And more!

An answer key is included with your download to make marking fast and easy!

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

Turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity by printing on card and slipping it into a dry-erase sleeve. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse them.
