A problem solving mat to help guide young children when solving a mathematical problem.

This teaching tool is a fantastic way to provide students with the basics when solving mathematical problems.

How can you use this resource?

  • Print out a class set and laminate them. Students can use whiteboard markers on the laminated mat.
  • Print out the black and white version for children to use when solving mathematical problems that you want to keep and check.
  • Use as an assessment piece to gauge students knowledge of solving mathematical problems

Why teach Problem Solving?

Problem Solving helps develop logical thinking and provides students with a context for learning mathematical knowledge. Problem solving also helps children take responsibility for their own learning.
