Odd and Even Game (Up to 100)

Looking for a low prep odd and even activity created by an experienced teacher ready to use in your classroom maths rotations? This Roll to 100: Odd or Even Race Game is an exciting and educational game designed to reinforce number recognition and understanding of odd and even numbers among primary school students. In this game, students will roll a dice, move along the 100s chart, and identify if the number they land on is odd or even as they race to reach 100!

Teacher Suggested Way to Use this Odd and Even Game in the Classroom

  1. Begin by asking the students if they know what odd and even numbers are. Allow for a brief discussion and provide simple examples.
  2. Explain that today’s lesson will involve a game called ‘Roll to 100: Odd or Even Race’, which will help them practise identifying odd and even numbers up to 100 while having lots of fun!
  3. Present the game board and materials to the class and explain the rules.
  4. Do a practise round as a class. You might like to get a volunteer to play you and project the game board onto the whiteboard for everyone to see!
  5. Divide the class into small groups and provide each group with a gameboard, dice, markers, and recording sheets.
  6. After 20 minutes, bring the class back together and ask the students to share their experiences during the game. What did they find challenging? Did they use any strategies to try to win the game?
  7. Individual practice – use one of the following individual activities for students to practise by themselves.
