This download includes five printable Properties of Materials Handouts, each focusing on a different way students can investigate and apply their understanding of material properties:

  • Name That Property Vocabulary Worksheet – Students complete statements about products using vocabulary related to material properties.
  • Material Match Up Worksheet – Learners connect different products and objects to the properties that make them the most useful, such as strong, flexible, waterproof, absorbent, durable, and transparent.
  • Mixed Up Materials Cut and Paste Worksheet – Students look at everyday objects and sort them based on whether they have the properties of absorbency, flexibility, and strength.
  • The Material Mix UP Worksheet – Students analyse incorrectly made products, determine the property needed to make it useful, and tell which material would be best to use.
