Repeated Addition Pizza Craft for Multiplication Success
Repeated addition is a key foundation for multiplication, and this pizza-themed craft helps students build that understanding through hands-on learning. Students share pepperoni slices equally across pizza crusts, then complete a matching repeated addition sentence to show the total number of slices.
The resource includes pizza crust templates, pepperoni cut-outs, sentence strips and a display page for assembling completed crafts.
This activity helps students:
- Model multiplication using equal groups.
- Connect visual representations to number sentences.
- Practise counting and skip counting.
- Explain their mathematical thinking.
For an easy extension, students can glue on more pizzas to create more complex repeated-addition problems.
Fun and Flexible Year 2 Multiplication Activities
This resource can be used in a variety of engaging ways throughout your multiplication unit:
- Pizza Shop Challenge: Students create customer pizza orders with equal amounts of pepperoni and record the matching repeated addition sentence.
