Questioning Teaching Resources
Use this collection of resources when teaching students questioning strategies for reading. Questioning is a strategy that readers use to engage with the text. It helps the reader to clarify and comprehend what they are reading. When readers ask questions as they read, they are not only interacting with the text to make meaning of it, but they are also monitoring their own comprehension of what they are reading. Use the Reading Comprehension Strategy PowerPoint – Questioning to introduce your students to the concept and then work through the examples and the guided, whole-class activity to solidify the concept. Also provided are some posters to display in your elementary classroom, worksheets, bookmarks, and flashcards.
