Independence Day is usually a summer holiday across the country, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need resources to teach about it! We are happy to help you collect resources to use in your classroom this year. We’ve been working on many teacher tools and resources to help you get ready, starting with a simple Independence Day Vocabulary Sort.

This Independence Day ABC Order Worksheet is a fun way to review vocabulary related to the holiday. We want our students to understand why our Fourth of July celebrations are held on July 4th each year. Students will be challenged to sequence content-specific words to help them review and reinforce vocabulary around this special day.

Students will increase their vocabulary and build alphabetical order skills through this activity.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your Social Studies lessons.

In addition to individual student work time, use this Independence Day resource to enhance learning through guided writing groups or whole group lessons.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need help understanding the concepts by completing the vocabulary discussion and worksheets in a small group setting.

Additionally, provide access to previous assignments, posters, and anchor charts for students to recall past lessons.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

Encourage your fast finishers to use their newfound vocabulary to write a letter or make a Fourth of July poster to decorate the classroom.
