Let’s Play a Shadow Matching Game!

Introduce your students to the concept of shadows with a fun, interactive Shadow Matching Game! This Shadow Matching Game is the perfect way to help young learners begin recognizing how shadows relate to the shapes of real objects.

Designed for use on an interactive whiteboard or screen, this digital Shadow Game encourages students to think critically, make predictions, and match objects as they explore the connection between light, objects, and the shadows they create.

Whether you’re launching a light-and-shadow science unit or simply need a quick, engaging warm-up, this shadow matching activity is sure to grab your students’ attention.

Interactive Shadow Match Game

This Google Slides interactive game is completely self-checking and easy for early learners to navigate. Students will:

  • Look at the shadow shown on the slide
  • Examine the answer choices
Click on the object or animal that matches the shadow

If they choose correctly, the slide will move forward! If not, they’ll be prompted to try again, making this activity a frustration-free learning experience. You can use this Shadow Match Game for:

  • Whole-class lessons on an interactive whiteboard
  • A science warm-up or center
  • Early finisher activities

This engaging matching game helps children sharpen their observation skills, build shape-recognition confidence, and begin to understand how shadows form.
