Looking at Light Interactions – Sorting Activity

A light interactions sorting activity gives young learners a concrete way to investigate how light behaves when it meets different materials. With our printable light interactions sorting activity, your students will build early science vocabulary and develop their observation and classification skills.

As students sort everyday objects into categories based on the amount of light that passes through them, they begin to recognize the differences between transparent, translucent, and opaque materials. We have ensured that this resource is appropriate for your students by using grade-appropriate content vocabulary.

Identify if All, Some, or No Light Passes Through

This printable science resource helps students determine whether all, some, or none of the light passes through everyday objects by examining picture cards and sorting them into the correct categories. In this sorting activity, your little learners will explore examples of transparent, translucent, and opaque materials while strengthening their understanding of light transmission.
