Need Memorial Day Activities for Elementary Students?

You’re in the right place! We’ve been putting together some fantastic resources to guide your instruction surrounding U.S. Patriotic Holidays, including Memorial Day.

This Memorial Day Vocabulary and Writing Center provides an easy task to help young students understand holidays as celebrations. The set contains 16 vocabulary word/picture cards that students use to identify the national patriotic holiday, Memorial Day. Students can refer to the vocabulary cards while completing the writing prompts in their centers.

Display the Memorial Day Vocabulary cards on the board or in a pocket chart and discuss them with your scholars. Once they are familiar with the reasons we celebrate Memorial Day, and the terms used, provide them with one of the included worksheets.

Through this activity, students will increase their vocabulary and build skills in writing sentences with academic language.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
