Worksheet that focuses on the differences between a solution and a mixture.

For this lesson review worksheet, students will consider examples of combined materials, and decide which is a mixture or a solution, and why.

This worksheet is best used as independent practice as part of your mixtures and solutions science lesson. It can also be completed with a guided small-group or done as a whole class activity by projecting the worksheet via smartboard.

Got fast finishers or students who need more practice? Here are a few ideas to help you change the difficulty level of this worksheet.

Dive into the Difference Between Mixtures and Solutions

This can be used as extension work and also lends the opportunity for students to think of other solutions and mixture examples. Ask students to describe mixtures and solutions they come across every day and what makes them different from each other.

Scaffolding for Struggling Students

Bring students into a small guided group to review each definition of mixtures and solution. Within your small group, go through each question and give students time to reflect on what they understand and what they still need more practice with the concepts. Show students physical examples if needed.
