Narrative Writing Craftivity Pack – Story‑Building for Young Writers

Introduce your early primary students to narrative writing with this engaging Narrative Writing Craftivity Pack. This resource blends creative storytelling with a fun craft component, giving students a highly visual and hands‑on way to plan and write their own imaginative story.

Students begin by selecting story cards from four categories, character, setting, problem, and solution, which guide them in building a complete storyline. Once their ideas are organized, they use the simple writing template to draft their narrative. To finish the activity, students decorate and cut out a character head template and attach it to the top of their writing, creating a colorful and personalized storytelling display.

What’s Included in the Narrative Craft Pack

This resource includes everything young learners need to build a complete story:

  • Character story cards featuring a variety of options such as a dog, dragon, robot, bear, queen, pirate, and more
  • Setting cards showing locations like a farm, forest, space, beach, school, zoo and more
  • Problem cards including challenges such as getting lost, feeling scared, losing an item, or becoming trapped
  • Solution cards providing resolutions such as asking for help, fixing the problem, finding a way back, or making a friend
  • Writing template with spaces for setting, characters, problem, and solution
  • Multiple character head templates that students can decorate and attach to their writing for a finished craft piece
