Grab a Safe vs Unsafe Worksheet to Kick Off Red Ribbon Week

Each year, Red Ribbon Week rolls around, and teachers scramble to find resources to help teach drug awareness to their early education students. Especially in Kindergarten and First Grade! With such little learners, it’s hard to break down and explain the dangers of drugs while still keeping it grade-level appropriate. This year, you’ve got the Teach Starter team and a brand new Safe vs Unsafe Worksheet to help you out!

Cut and Paste to Identify Safe and Unsafe Behavior

This Safe vs. Unsafe Worksheet is designed to help your students differentiate between safe and unsafe behavior regarding their health, medication, and other potentially dangerous substances. This resource is intended to help students review safe and unsafe behaviors for Red Ribbon Week at school.

Sorting Examples of Safe and Unsafe Behaviors

This resource encourages students to sort examples and pictures of a safe or unsafe situation, such as:

  • Taking food or drink from a family member
  • Taking Medicine alone
  • Eating unwrapped candy given by a stranger
  • Taking medicine from a parent
  • and more!

To complete, each child will need to color the illustrations and read each of the simple scenarios. They will then cut the items on the dashed lines and glue them in the appropriate categories based on whether they are safe choices or unsafe choices. This is also a great activity for younger students to practice fine motor skills.
