Two Truths and a Lie Icebreaker Instructions

Everything you need to run this icebreaker smoothly is included! Here are the Two Truths and a Lie icebreaker instructions!

  1. Explain the Game- Tell students they’ll be sharing three statements about themselves: Two that are true, One that is a lie (but should still sound believable!)
  2. Model the Activity using a blank template. Write your own three statements as an example on a blank template. Ask the class to guess which one is the lie.
  3. Give Think Time – Let students take 2–3 minutes to quietly think and write their three statements.
  4. Share – Share and explain your two truths and a lie to your students to let them get to know you more.
  5. Give students copies of the writing template and project the thinking prompts sheet to help them start on their own statements. Once they finish, have them share their two truths and a lie, have classmates guess, and then prompt them to reveal the lie.
