Researching Examples of Landforms in the United States?

Take a journey across the United States with Teach Starter geography resources. If you’re looking for creative projects to help your students learn about the major landforms in the United States, this is the place!

Students will use geography books or websites to research and gather information about different landforms around the United States. Once their investigation is complete, they will use this template to create an informational brochure highlighting their learning.

Students can research, define, and describe different landforms through this activity. Essential questions covered in this project are:

  • What are examples of landforms located in the United States?
  • What is the definition of a landform?
  • How do landforms help the people who live in or around them?
  • What is the climate like in or near this landform?
  • What animals and plants live in or near this landform?

What are the Different Types of Landforms in the U.S?

First, prepare your students with a bit of background knowledge! Give your students a look at our landform map before beginning their research on specific U.S. landforms. Give them lots of choices to increase their engagement with the content!
