Foundation (Prep)
In Foundation resources from Teach Starter, students are introduced to foundational language and literacy skills. This year's curriculum is crucial as it provides a solid foundation for students' literacy development in the following years.
Teach Starter's resources will help you teach your foundation or prep students to recognise and produce sounds, letters and words and develop basic reading and writing skills.
Worksheets and games in this curriculum-aligned collection cover the purposes of different texts and engage in shared reading and storytelling activities to help your prep students get hooked on reading!
Year 1
Year 1 English builds upon the foundational skills developed in Foundation. Students continue to refine their reading and writing abilities, focusing on phonics, decoding, and fluency. They begin to read simple texts independently and develop their vocabulary and comprehension skills.
In writing, year 1 students learn to construct simple sentences, use capital letters and full stops, and express ideas through words and illustrations. This year's curriculum is important as it establishes fundamental reading and writing skills, enabling students to become more confident readers and writers.
Year 2
In Year 2, students expand their reading and writing skills, and the worksheets in this collection will allow you to explore a range of texts with your students, including fiction, non-fiction and poetry.
Work with your class to develop comprehension strategies to understand and interpret texts more deeply and learn about different text structures and begin to write more complex sentences and paragraphs.

The Australian English curriculum in year 5 emphasises higher-level comprehension and composition skills, and Teach Starter's year 5 reading resources allow students to engage with more complex texts, including novels, plays and multimodal texts.

Year 6
