What Is Remembrance Day?
Remembrance Day is a day of commemoration when we remember those who served and died in the First World War (1914-1918). It is observed in Australia and other allied nations like New Zealand, Canada, and the United States, although is called Armistice Day or Veterans Day in some countries.
Remembrance Day activities help young students to understand the solemnity of the day itself and commend the bravery of soldiers, medics, and others who served in WW1 as well as those who have fought and died in wars since.

On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minute’s silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect our nation.
Remembrance Day is not a public holiday, and 11 November is a Monday in 2024, which means school may be open that day.
