All About Insects Reading Comprehension Worksheets

Give your Year 3 and Year 4 students a fun and engaging way to learn about insects while practising essential reading comprehension skills! These All About Insects Reading Comprehension Worksheets combine science content with literacy practice, helping students explore important facts about insects and develop their ability to find evidence in a text.

Explore Animal Features, Reading Comprehension, and Text Evidence

These All About Insects Reading Comprehension Worksheets include a variety of activities to challenge and support students:

  • Comprehension Sheet – A double-sided passage packed with key information about insects, their body parts, and behaviours, followed by guided questions to check understanding.
  • Matching Activity – Students match insect features, behaviours, or facts to the correct description or term, reinforcing content knowledge.
  • True, False, and Fix It – A set of 10 statements where some contain scientific errors (e.g., “All insects have eight legs”). Students must identify false statements and rewrite them correctly.
  • Claims and Evidence T-Chart – Students examine the text to find evidence supporting a provided claim (e.g., Claim: “Insects are built for protection” → Evidence: “They have a hard outer shell called an exoskeleton”).

These worksheets provide a balanced mix of reading comprehension, critical thinking, and scientific observation skills.
