A set of 9 maths addition strategies posters for the lower years.
This set of addition strategies includes:
Add and subtract one- and two-digit numbers, representing problems using number sentences, and solve using part-part-whole reasoning and a variety of calculation strategies
Use mathematical modelling to solve practical problems involving additive and multiplicative situations, including money transactions; represent situations and choose calculation strategies; interpret and communicate solutions in terms of the situation
Recognise and explain the connection between addition and subtraction as inverse operations, apply to partition numbers and find unknown values in number sentences
Extend and apply knowledge of addition and subtraction facts to 20 to develop efficient mental strategies for computation with larger numbers without a calculator
Find unknown values in numerical equations involving addition and subtraction, using the properties of numbers and operations
Solve simple addition and subtraction problems using a range of efficient mental and written strategies
Recognise and explain the connection between addition and subtraction
Recall addition facts for single-digit numbers and related subtraction facts to develop increasingly efficient mental strategies for computation
Find unknown quantities in number sentences involving addition and subtraction and identify equivalent number sentences involving addition and subtraction
AdditionandSubtraction - uses a range of strategies and informal recording methods for addition and subtraction involving one- and two-digit numbers
AdditionandSubtraction - uses mental and written strategies for addition and subtraction involving two-, three-, four- and five-digit numbers
PatternsandAlgebra - generalises properties of odd and even numbers, generates number patterns, and completes simple number sentences by calculating missing values
Solve simple addition and subtraction problems using a range of efficient mental and written strategies
Recognise and explain the connection between addition and subtraction
Recall addition facts for single-digit numbers and related subtraction facts to develop increasingly efficient mental strategies for computation
Use equivalent number sentences involving addition and subtraction to find unknown quantities

Just wondering if Chris Gartian's suggestion: "a strategy card for the vertical algorithm with what to do when the ones add up to greater than ten would really compliment this resource" was eventually actioned or not?
Hi David, I believe we have added the suggested changes to the posters. If we missed something, or if you have another idea, please submit a change suggestion to this resource using the ‘Suggest a Change’ tab above the comments section. Thanks, David!
Thanks Royce - how do I place a resource request?
Hi Chris, Hi {name}, Request a resource here: https://www.teachstarter.com/request-a-resource/ Requests are voted on by the Teach Starter community. We create the top request each week. Please let me know if you have any further questions, I'm more than happy to help.
Great resource! I have put it on display in the classroom and have a few on flip rings for the kids to have beside them. But a suggestion - a strategy card for the vertical algorithm with what to do when the ones add up to greater then ten would really compliment this resource.
Hey Chris, thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I am glad these are providing value in your classroom. I agree, I think that adding an algorithm greater than ten would be a fantastic addition. Could I please ask that you place a resource request and that way this idea can move up the waiting line quickly when it gains votes. If there is anything else that I can assist you with please do not hesitate to contact us.
