Practice alphabetising to the third letter with this interactive digital learning activity.

Add Some Interactivity to Your Alphabetical Order Lessons

Drop those alphabetical order worksheets, and engage your students with an easy-to-use and engaging interactive activity. Students are required to click, drag, drop, and type to demonstrate their abilities to alphabetise words to the third letter.

Through this activity, students will enhance their ability to alphabetise words and can practise their dictionary skills at the same time! They are required to:

  • put lists of words in alphabetical order
  • type lists of words in alphabetical order
  • identify if lists of words are in the correct alphabetical order
  • drag words into the correct alphabetical order
  • find the word that is out of order
  • find the word to complete the order.

Multiple Applications for This Alphabetical Order Activity

This versatile English resource can be used in your classroom in a variety of ways. Adapt your instructional approach the best suit the needs of the learners in your class.

Independent activity

Allow more-confident students to work through the resource independently by assigning the activity in Google classroom. Ensure that the students complete the activity in Edit mode, not in Presentation mode.

Targeted group activity

Work on the resource as a targeted support activity with a group of less-confident learners. Provide the students with dictionaries and teach them how to use these to assist with completing the activities.

Whole-class lesson

Project the presentation onto your interactive whiteboard and work through the slides as a whole-class lesson or review. Let the students take turns to come up to the board to drag, drop or type in the correct answers.
