Spin and Write Contractions: A Fun and Engaging Learning Tool

How to Create Your Own Spinner for a Worksheet

Here are a few simple ways to create a spinner for this activity:

• Paperclip and Pencil Spinner – Place a paperclip in the centre of the spinner circle. Hold a pencil vertically in the centre of the paperclip and flick the paperclip to spin it.
• DIY Arrow Spinner – Cut out an arrow from cardboard or thick paper and attach it to the centre of the spinner circle with a brass fastener, allowing it to spin freely.
• Reusable Spinner – Use a transparent spinner from a board game and place it over the worksheet’s spinner circle.

We suggest laminating this resource to make it more versatile and durable. Students can write on it with whiteboard markers and easily wipe it clean after each use.
