Practise Telling Time with a Tarsia Puzzle Pack!
Our fun and engaging Telling Time Tarsia Puzzle Pack helps students develop confidence identifying and matching digital times with their corresponding word forms. This hands-on resource includes four differentiated Tarsia puzzles that provide practice with o’clock, half past, quarter past, and quarter to times.
To complete each activity, students cut apart the puzzle pieces and match each digital time to its corresponding written form. When all matches are correct, the pieces fit together to complete the puzzle. Students can then glue their completed puzzle onto the provided recording template.
Through these activities, students will demonstrate their understanding of:
- O’clock times.
- Half past times.
- Quarter past times.
- Quarter to times.
- Matching digital and written representations of time.
How to Differentiate Your Telling Time Activity
🆘 Support Struggling Students
Support students who are still developing their understanding of time concepts by working through the puzzle in a small group or one-on-one setting. Students with fine motor needs may benefit from assistance when cutting out the puzzle pieces.
To further scaffold learning, introduce the puzzles progressively. Start with the hour and half Hour puzzle before moving on to activities that include quarter past and quarter to times.

Encourage students to complete multiple puzzle levels, explain how they know each match is correct, or sort the times into categories such as o’clock, half past, quarter past, and quarter to before assembling the puzzle.
