Using This Counting On Game in the Classroom
Our counting on games take just a bit of preparation, and then they can be used for years to come. Here’s how!
Getting Ready
- Start by downloading the counting on games of your choice in the formats that work best for you.
- Print out the game board, playing cards, answer key, number cube, and game tokens. For extra sturdiness, we suggest using cardboard.
- Cut out the cards and tokens, and put together the number cube.
Playing the Game
- Each student places their game piece on the ‘Start’ space. Stack the cards on the ‘Draw Pile’ spot.
- The first player rolls the number cube and moves forward that number of spaces.
- The player follows any instructions on the space.
- If the space shows a picture, the player picks a card and solves the equation. A correct answer means they stay put; a wrong answer sends them back to their last spot.
- Players continue taking turns. The first to reach the ‘Finish’ space is the winner!
