Reach for the Stars with a Hands-On Constellation Activity

Are you on the hunt for a fun and engaging way for young learners to explore objects in the night sky? We’ve got you covered! This Constellation Activity Pack helps early learners build their understanding of star patterns while developing observation, fine motor, and spatial awareness skills.

Using this printable Constellation Activity, your students will get hands-on experience recreating constellations and building their designs using playdough, marshmallows, or other common modelling materials.

Can Your Students Build a Constellation?

This set of 12 Build a Constellation cards is perfect for students learning about objects in the sky. Using this resource, students receive an activity mat, playdough, and toothpicks or other modelling materials. They select a star constellation card and recreate the pattern with the provided materials.

The download includes:

  • Twelve constellation activity cards featuring the star pattern and a picture of what the constellation is said to represent
  • A building mat
  • An optional recording sheet for drawing completed constellations

Students can use the recording sheet to draw and document each constellation they create, providing an additional opportunity to reinforce their understanding of star formations.
