Seamlessly Integrate Snow Limits Magazine Into Your Lessons

Snow Limits magazine has been designed by our team with busy teachers in mind. We know you have a jam-packed curriculum to get through – that’s why this magazine has been thoughtfully crafted to cover multiple curriculum areas in one cohesive resource!

When engaging with the magazine, students will explore different text types (English), learn about adaptive sports and physical achievement (Health and Physical Education), examine the environmental features required for winter sports (HASS) and discuss themes of perseverance, inclusion and diversity (Social-Emotional Learning). Essentially, the magazine enables you to use the Winter Paralympic Games as an engaging vehicle to teach the skills you already need to teach!

Here are some of the ways Snow Limits magazine can help you cover off those curriculum codes:

  • Reading Comprehension – The articles featured in Snow Limits magazine have been written at an appropriate level for middle and upper primary students. They also feature colourful designs and engaging visuals to appeal to young students.
  • Genre Writing – Students have the opportunity to create various written pieces in response to the articles in the magazine, including a reflection, a biography, a brochure, an explanation and a narrative.
  • Independent Research – Many of the student activities serve as a springboard for student-led investigations. For example, students can choose an athlete to research, explore an assistive device or investigate the geographical features of host cities.
  • Design Tasks – Articles provide inspiration for design tasks where students can design and create a snowboard, a training schedule for a Para athlete, and even a Para biathlon course!

As you can see, the beauty of this resource is its flexibility. Use it for whole-class learning, small-group sessions or independent reading. You could even send copies of the magazine home for family engagement.
