Syllable Peg Cards

Teach Starter Publishing
PDF | 10 pages | Years: F - 1

A hands-on syllable activity for lower years that helps to develop syllable recognition.

Use this teaching resource in the classroom when teaching and learning how to recognise sounds and syllables in spoken words.

This phonics activity is ideal to use in small groups during English groups or as a warm-up activity.

  • Print this resource on thick card to ensure durability.
  • Cut along the dotted lines to create small peg cards.
  • Provide your students with wooden pegs and the cards.
  • Encourage your students to clap and sound out each syllable and place the peg on the correct number of syllables for each word.
