No-Prep Phonics and Spelling Activities for Year 1!

As educators, we are aware of how much our students enjoy digital learning opportunities. However, have you ever considered the benefits for teachers when using digital resources? No need to print, photocopy, or worry about misplaced worksheets. Simply download, project, and teach!

This year, the Teach Starter team has been hard at work creating new and fun activities to help your year 1 students master the phonics skills they need to read and write on their level. We’ve put together a fun series of phonics activities and spelling activities that are perfect for Year 1 students, starting with a brand new Phonics/Spelling Game!

Practise Spelling Words with the W, WH, and U Phonemes

This engaging online phonics game consists of 20 interactive activity slides. Each slide contains an image and the incomplete spelling of a word that contains the /w/ sound.  To play, students must select the phoneme (wh, w, or u) that correctly completes the word.

This resource is self-checking, so it’s a breeze to assign and use. As students progress through the activity slides, correct answers will move them onward. Incorrect answers are prompted to return to the previous slide and try again.
