Year 4 Division Pack Activities for Targeted Skill Development

Division is a key mathematical skill that helps students develop number sense, problem-solving strategies and confidence when working with larger numbers. As students progress through Year 4, they benefit from opportunities to practise division in a variety of engaging formats while working at an appropriate level of challenge.

This year 4 division pack has been designed to provide differentiated division practice through a collection of mystery activities, cut-and-paste worksheets and colour-by-code tasks. Students solve real-world division problems and apply their understanding in fun and meaningful ways.

The differentiated activities are clearly identified by shape:

  • Circle – Dividing 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers.
  • Triangle – Dividing 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers.
  • Square – A mixed review of 2-digit and 3-digit division problems.

Because students encounter division in multiple formats, they have repeated opportunities to strengthen computational fluency while staying engaged in the learning process.

Engaging Ways to Use These Year 4 Division Worksheets

These year 4 division worksheets can be used in a variety of engaging ways to build fluency and confidence with division.

  • Differentiated Maths Groups – Use the circle, triangle and square activities to provide targeted practice based on student readiness levels.
  • Around-the-Room Challenge – Place worksheets around the classroom and have students move between stations as they solve division problems.
  • Maths Choice Time – Let students choose between the Mystery, Cut and Paste or colour by Code activities to complete their division practice in a format they enjoy.

The differentiated activities make excellent additions to maths rotations, small-group instruction, homework tasks and end-of-unit review lessons.
