Year 4 Multiplication Strategies Teaching Slides for Deeper Understanding

Developing confidence with multiplication involves more than memorising facts. Students benefit from learning a range of strategies that help them solve problems efficiently while building a deeper understanding of number relationships.

These Year 4 multiplication strategies teaching slides introduce students to five key multiplication strategies: partitioning, derived facts, doubling and halving, multiples of 10 and area models. Through guided examples, class discussions and practise questions, students learn when and how to apply each strategy to solve multiplication problems.

The lesson sequence gradually builds understanding by modelling each strategy step-by-step before giving students opportunities to practise independently. Students are encouraged to explain their thinking, compare solution methods and justify why one strategy may be more efficient than another.

Multiplication Strategies Year 4 Students Can Apply with Confidence

These multiplication strategies Year 4 teaching slides can be used in a variety of classroom contexts, including:

  • Whole-class lessons – Introduce and model multiplication strategies through guided instruction and discussion.
  • Maths warm-ups – Revisit key strategies and efficient thinking methods throughout the year.
  • Small-group support – Reinforce specific multiplication concepts with targeted teaching and worked examples.

The visual examples and scaffolded questions help students build confidence while developing strong problem-solving and reasoning skills.
