Display slide 10 of the People Live in Places PowerPoint. Ask the students:
- Why are schools special places?
- Who are the people who belong to our school?
- Who cares for our school?

Display slide 11. Use Google Earth to locate your school through the search function. While viewing the satellite images, ask the students:
- What do you notice about where your school is located?
- What do the different colors on the satellite represent?
- Do you notice any familiar places?
Watch the Natural and Built Environments video on YouTube. After watching, display and complete slide 12 as a class.

Display slide 13 and discuss the independent task. Review the five senses with the students and ask them to share some examples of each with the class.
Lead the students on a guided walk around the school. Encourage the students to identify and discuss the built and natural features of the school during the walk. If possible, take photographs of these features during the walk.
Upon returning the classroom, provide each student with a copy of the Nature Walk Senses Worksheet. Monitor and support the students as they independently complete the worksheet. Once the students have finished, encourage confident students to share the senses they experienced on the nature walk.

View the photographs taken throughout the guided walk and ask the students to use a sense to describe each place. Encourage more confident students to describe why this is a special place in your school.
