Help your kindergartners see the usefulness of light energy and how it helps us see things clearly with our ‘Dark, Dim, or Bright’ Light Observation Activity slides.
Observe & Discuss – Light Observation Activity Slides
Understanding how light affects visibility helps students build foundational science concepts while strengthening observation, comparison, and reasoning skills. With this set of brand-new Light Observation Activity Slides, your littlest learners will have the opportunity to examine details closely, discuss what they notice, and explain how lighting changes what can be seen.
Using this set of Light Observation Activity Slides, students will compare pairs of photographs showing the same scene under bright, dim, or dark conditions. Through whole-group, teacher-guided discussion, they identify visible details, determine which image has more or less light, and justify their observations using evidence from the images.
Click-to-Appear Animations for Whole-Group Engagement
This presentation features click-to-appear animations that encourage student engagement by delivering images and discussion prompts in small chunks. Individual components appear with the click of a mouse, guiding you and the students through your observations and discussions. Each slide reveals its content in the following order.
- Click 1 reveals an image in dark or dim lighting. Students observe and discuss the details that are hard to see, and guess what they see in the darkness.
- Click 2 reveals the same image with full lighting. Students observe new details, discuss what the lighting revealed, and what caused the change.
- Click 3 reveals a single question about the images (e.g., which is brighter, which is darker, etc.).
- Click 4 reveals the answer to the single question.
- Click 5 advances to the next scenario.
