Read Across America Week Begins with a Road Trip

Teaching 3rd, 4th or 5th grade this year? Take your students on a journey through the library and across the United States of America with a printable library scavenger hunt designed for Read Across America Week! Available in both an editable Google Slides template format and a printable PDF, this fun worksheet brings the school library to life just in time for the March holiday.

Learn About the Library on Read Across America Day!

Invite your students into the school or classroom library and send them on a journey to find different genres of books, research tools, text features and fun facts about a variety of topics!

Students begin with a United States map that has been tagged with major cities across the U.S. They must then complete a series of scavenger hunt tasks to locate specific information and books in the library.

This activity is the perfect way to engage your upper elementary students and introduce them to new authors, genres and information they didn’t know they could find in the library … all while getting into the spirit of Read Across America Day.

This is the first in a series of brand-new resources coming down the line for Read Across America Week. Grab this one while it’s hot, and stay tuned for new literacy and reading inspired resources coming to the site daily!
