This versatile teaching resource has multiple applications in the early years classroom. It contains six different visual representations of the numbers 11-20. Each number is represented by:
- the number
- the word
- base 10 blocks
- tally marks
- the sum of 10 and a one-digit number
- ten frames.
Cut out and laminate a set of flashcards for use during your mathematics time. Alternatively, send sets of the flashcards home with your students to help consolidate their number recognition.
Students could also use the flashcards to play card games such as Snap, Memory, or Go Fish.

Common Core Curriculum alignment
Count to 120, starting at any number less than 120. In this range, read and write numerals and represent a number of objects with a written numeral.
Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand the following as special cases:
The numbers from 11 to 19 are composed of a ten and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
