S Blend Words for Daily Fluency Practice

Reading fluency, or the ability to read text quickly and accurately, is generally considered to be a positive aspect of reading skills. It allows readers to focus on comprehension rather than struggling with decoding the words on the page. Research has shown that fluent readers are more likely to comprehend text and perform better on reading comprehension tests.

Daily practice with difficult blends and spelling patterns is critical to building a solid reading fluency foundation. We’ve put together some no-prep classroom phonics resources to help you build those fluency and spelling skills.

Print out these S Blend Word Wall Vocabulary cards and cut them along the line. Stick them around your room to immerse your students in the world of words, or put them on a ring for them to practice with during reading stations. You could send them home as a practice deck for students needing additional exposure to the blends.
