Learning All About Adverbs!

This bright word wall containing 28 high frequency adverbs will be a shining star during your writing classes! So if your students are studying persuasive or narrative writing (or any other text type, for that matter), this versatile adverbs resource set is a must-have visual support for your classroom!

This resource also includes a cover page which lists all of the words included (handy for if you’re using the cards for a game, so you can keep your full set!). No matter how you use it this resource will support students’ understanding of how a sentence can be made more specific by adding adverbs, and provide them with usable examples to try in their writing.

Using This Adverbs Word Wall in Your Classroom

Word walls are such a versatile resource type! Here are some ways our team of teachers suggest you use these posters in your classroom (and beyond!).

  1. Print and cut out two sets of the adverbs and have students play a “snap” style game with a partner.
  2. Print and cut out two sets of the adverbs and place them face-down on a desk, and have your students play “memory” taking turns flipping them over and trying to remember where a match was.
  3. Print the adverb cards as a list and display them somewhere visible in your room for students to choose from when writing.
  4. Challenge students to include 4 adverbs from the wall in their next piece of writing.
  5. Print out sets in black and white and place them in homework folders for students to use when completing home assignments.
