Captain Yet is a fantastic friend who has a way to help Pirate Nup see that challenges often have solutions; they just may take time. The purpose of Captain Yet is to help students use a growth mindset approach to learning challenges and find use independent and resourceful strategies to find solutions.
Captain Yet’s Joyous Journey is a great example for students to reflect on, as students can observe independent and resourceful learning strategies. Teachers are often the first call when students are having difficulty with classroom tasks, as children often do not think to use self-help strategies. Looking at the challenges Captain Yet overcomes using the Yet strategy, students can compare their own learning challenges and think of relatable solutions.
