Use the area of a triangle formula as you work your way through this set of differentiated maths mazes.
Area of a Triangle – Worksheets for Year 7!
Sometimes your students are in need of something different than a traditional worksheet. The thought of answering standard questions on a printable page is not very exciting for some students. So how can teachers still give their students adequate practice, but in a fun and creative way?
Introducing our set of differentiated maths mazes! This unique twist on traditional maths worksheets will have your students eager to solve problems to find their way through each maze correctly.
With this set of maths mazes students will calculate the area of different triangular figures. Students will find the corresponding answer and work their way through the maze to reach the end. Your students may encounter some dead ends along the way, so if that is the case, encourage them to go back to a figure where there are two of the same answer choices and try a different path!
This resource comes with three different versions:
- Version One: Find the area with whole number lengths
- Version Two: Find the area with decimal lengths
- Version Three: Find the area with fractional lengths
An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!
Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:
- lesson wrap-up
- fast finishers
- homework assignment.
If there are students needing a bit of a challenge, encourage them to complete the decimal or fraction version of the maze. In addition, consider using the editable version to provide a blank template for students to create their own maths maze.
Consider assigning the first maze with the whole numbers for students who need support with this activity. Alternatively, consider using the editable version and removing the answer choices with the same number that lead to a dead end in the maze.
Easily Download & Print
Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or editable Google Slides version of this resource.
Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.
Turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity by printing on thick card and slipping it into a dry-erase sleeve. Students can shade in the correct path through the maze with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse them.
