This Probability of Everyday Events Sort is the perfect activity to help students understand and apply probability concepts using real-life scenarios. This engaging, cut-and-paste resource includes 15 relatable events that students sort into one of five probability categories:
- Impossible
- Unlikely
- Equally Likely
- Likely
- Certain
Each event is accompanied by a simple visual to support comprehension and engagement. The resource includes a sorting mat, event cards and a complete answer key for easy implementation. Both colour and black-and-white versions of this probability of everyday events resource are provided as well for maximum versatility. This activity makes it easy to bring probability to life in a meaningful and memorable way!
Using This Simple Probability Activity
This simple probability activity is ideal for maths stations, guided group work, or independent practice. Best of all, it’s easy to download and use. Here’s how!
- Download and print either the colour or black-and-white version of this probability of everyday events resource in the format of your choice.
- Ask students to get out scissors and glue, and give them each a copy of the sorting mat and the events page.
- Students will cut out each of the events and sort them into the category that best describes the likelihood of the event happening. There will be three events in each category.
- Once students have checked their work with the answer key, they will glue each event on the sorting sheet.
