This Animal and Characteristics Vocabulary and Writing Centre provides a fun, interactive way to help young students understand more about the body features and characteristics of living things. The set contains 24 vocabulary word/picture cards that students use to identify the different parts of animals and descriptive characteristics of groups of animals. Students can refer to the vocabulary cards while completing the writing prompts in their centres.

Display the Features of Animals Vocabulary cards on the board or in a pocket chart and discuss them with your students. Once familiar with the vocabulary terms, provide them with one of the included worksheets.
Through this activity, students will expand their vocabulary and develop writing skills using academic language.
