2-Digit Number Matching Activity

Use this clover-themed match-up activity to consolidate your students knowledge of 2-digit numbers. In this maths puzzle activity, students need to pick one of the puzzle pieces that has a 2-digit number. Then, they need to find the puzzle pieces with the correct number of MABs and finally, find the puzzle piece with the correct word form of that number.

A students ability to recognise a number in different forms is crucial to developing their number sense.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need help understanding the concepts by only focusing on a handful of the numbers. Additionally, provide access to maths manipulatives to assist students.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

Encourage fast finishers to complete a number of the day on one of the numbers they have matched during the puzzle activity.

🛴 Scavenger Hunt Activity

Keep the 2-digit number cards and place the other puzzles pieces around the room. In pairs, provide students with one of the number cards and have them try to find their matching clover leaves for their given number.

👋 Exit Ticket

Use these cards as a formative assessment after your lesson. Pick a random assortment of cards and project them on the board for the whole class to see. Students can record their answers on a sheet of paper, sticky note or notebook.
