Identify how similar topics and information can be presented in different types of texts with this Butterfly Lifecycle Text Comparison booklet.
Comparing Text Types with a Butterfly Lifecycle Theme
This Year 2 booklet uses the engaging topic of the butterfly lifecycle to help students practise comparing text types. Learners explore how the same subject can be written about in different ways, noticing the structure, language, and features unique to each text type.
Students investigate the following text types with the same topics:
- Narrative – telling the story of a butterfly’s life in a sequential, story-like format
- Informative – presenting factual details about the stages of the butterfly lifecycle
- Poem – creatively expressing ideas and imagery about butterflies
Each text type focuses on the butterfly lifecycle, encouraging students to identify the similarities and differences across texts and develop strategies for understanding new information.
