When introducing or reviewing a text type with our students, using high-quality example texts is essential. Before they can produce their own arguments, students need to see authentic examples of how persuasive writing works – how an author grabs attention, presents reasons logically, and uses convincing language to sway opinions. For many students, exposure to high‑quality examples is the moment when abstract writing expectations suddenly become concrete.

This persuasive text example pack features five engaging persuasive texts specifically written for upper primary school students. Each text showcases the key features of strong persuasive writing, from text structure to persuasive language features. Using These Persuasive Piece Examples in Your Lessons

The beauty of this resource lies in its versatility! These persuasive piece examples and accompanying analysis task cards can be used in multiple ways to supplement your persuasive writing lessons. Here are some ideas you might like to consider:

• Whole class annotation – Choose one of the persuasive text examples and project it onto your interactive whiteboard. Select a number of cards to discuss as a class, making sure to cover purpose, audience, structure and language features.
• Literacy station – Place a different persuasive text at multiple stations around the classroom with three or four accompanying task cards. Have the students rotate through the stations, analysing each text as they progress around the room.
• Independent activity – Keep the analysis task cards on standby for students to use whenever they engage with a persuasive text. Students can choose to explore purpose, audience, structure, language or a mix of these.
