Display slide 10 and facilitate a discussion about time units. Encourage the students to identify which time units would be most appropriate to use in the situations on the slide.
Display slide 11 and discuss the independent activity. Encourage the students to attempt the conversion questions on the slide in their workbooks. Students could work collaboratively in small groups or individually on this task.
Once the questions have been completed, display the answers on slide 12. Encourage more confident students to come to the board to demonstrate their working for each question.
Encourage more capable students to work with a less confident peer when completing the time conversions.
