Display slide 8. Discuss the problems on the slide and write some ideas for calculating the answers on the board. Take note of:
the am and pm time
the units of time involved
times which are off the hour.
Discuss the concept of times zones, as outlined on slides 9-10. Provide the students with a copy of the Time After Time Worksheet. Monitor and support the students as they answer the questions about countries and time zones around the world.
Once the worksheet has been completed, discuss the answers as a class. Encourage more confident students to model their calculations on the board.
Encourage fast finishers to write additional time zone questions based on the map provided.
Allow less confident students to complete the worksheet in a small group with adult support.
