Explore Animals and Their Babies With a Spot The Difference Game!

Get your students to look closely and think like scientists with this engaging Spot the Difference Game! Designed to build observation skills, this printable Spot the Difference Game challenges students to examine photographs of adult animals and their babies carefully, then write about how the adult and baby animals differ in appearance.

By comparing real-life images, students deepen their understanding of how animals grow and change from birth to adulthood.

Spot the Difference – SCOOT! Task Cards

This resource includes the following printable components:

  • 24 SCOOT! Task cards featuring a photograph of a parent animal and its baby
  • 2 recording sheets (varied to include a larger space for writing)

When visiting each card, your students will carefully compare features such as size, body covering, proportions, coloration, etc. They then write complete sentences explaining how the baby differs from the adult.

You can use these cards in multiple ways:

  • Play SCOOT! – Place the cards around the room. Students rotate from card to card, recording their observations before moving to the next station.
  • Science Center Activity – Set up a small-group station where students can collaborate, discuss differences, and complete observations together.
